!!!

Things of mine to see:

Kripto has now been cryogenically frozen.

I got tired of trying to make this or that run, so I unpartitioned the HDD and put everything back into boxes. \\Bob now has the ATI card (Radeon X1300), and \\Angela is waiting to get the case back.

All I wanted was to see how well Counter-Strike: Source would run on that machine. I have made one conclusion: It won't. Not yet anyways.

I don't know if I mentioned this or not, but I applied at BestBuy the other day. It's all online and stuff. I'm starting to think that I won't be accepted because I have no experience except the homegrown kind and the little I get because my friends can be stupid with their computers.

I am excited to be hired there, though, because then I have an actual income! I could actually get enough money to buy the parts before they go off the market. Plus, rumor has it that BestBuy's employee discount is rather hefty... :)

For some odd reason, I'm tired and it's only 11:30. Something must be wrong with me.

"The Day To Shine"

Things of mine to see:

Psht. Yeah right. Like that test is a real big deal.

I'm taking the PSAT on Saturday (My tomorrow still.), bright and early at 7:45. I'm supposed to leave my cell phone at home and bring wood pencils. I don't want to use wood pencils. I don't like them.

And the first item in the "Preparing for the Test" section of the pamphlet they give you says to "get plenty of rest the night before the test." Obviously, I'm not getting that much. It's already almost midnight and I haven't even taken a shower!

I'm downloading Counter-Strike: Source on Steam though an emulation so I can play it on my awesome computer. it takes a long time to download for some reason. I think it's that the NICs in the motherboard aren't really supported that well by Linux so it doesn't work really well at all. But this system just blows me away. It's astonishing that a system that's so much more advanced than any other I've owned and posses a far faster chip can crawl along so very slowly...

Anyways, maybe I should go shower, since it looks like it's going to be a while before I'm pwning at CS:S. Considering it's a large game and it's downloading at ~250KBps. (Better than last night, updates downloading at 467Bps. Yes, 467 Bytes Per Second.)

IT LIVES!!!!! *evil laugh*

Things of mine to see:

Kripto Lives! Though he is some sort of amalgamation of parts from three complete computers, he is up and running as I type on him. Here's the rundown of the parts:

Graphics: ATI Radeon X1300 256MB (Borrowed from \\Bob)
Mobo: ABit KN9-SLI (New)
Processor: AMD Athlon 64x2 5200+ 2.6GHz (New)
Hard Disk: Western Digital SATA Caviar 160GB (New)
Case: Some expensive thing... (Borrowed from \\Angela)
Memory: Mushkin 2GB set (New)
Input: Logitech Wireless set (Borrowed from \\Main)
Power Supply: ???? (Borrowed from \\Main, who is borrowing one from \\Angela)
Add-On-Cards: USB (Borrowed from \\Angela), wireless G adapter (Borrowed from \\Angela)

In case you can't tell, \\Angela is out of commission for a while. She's been gutted and is lying on the system shelf of the upstairs computer desk.

Installing the parts was not an experience I care to repeat, but it went a little smoother than I had thought to be the worst. It took me three hours to gather the tools and the missing parts, put all the components in the right places, and get the connectors for USB, audio and FireWire right. WAYYY too long, considering I've done this before in A+ and took less than 15 minutes. (I think I took longer to tear the system down than I did to build it up again.)

Anyways, now that I'm done bragging about Kripto for now, lets talk school. My networking teacher was invited to bring several students to a conference about tech mobility. I was among her few who were chosen to attend. There was only a few requirements that were fairly standard. Get your parents and all your teachers to sign the permission slip, and be passing all your classes. There's only one problem with that: I'M FAILING ENGLISH because there is only one grade so far this quarter, and it was a test over that freaking Scarlet Letter book which I can't stand. The only other major grade going into the book is the final test, a theme analysis on the aforementioned book. Needless to say, I failed that, so I'm afraid that I won't be able to go. That's very upsetting to me because I really would like to go. It's not only a day away from school for technology, but it's a great learning experience because I know next to nothing about this sort of thing. English class just drives me crazy...

Now, bragging about my computer again, how can you not just love it? It's just that awesome that you have to. After all, it is a fruit of my blood and frustration, mostly frustration, though. (Both before the parts got here, and after as I was putting it together. The blood is because the case cut me on the back of my thumb.)

But the cables for front panel IO were driving me crazy. You see, the last computer that was in that case had really screwy front panel connections. This motherboard has standard connections, so I had to re-rewire all the cables again just to make them work with this case. It sucks because the colors were all the same and I'd start reading the wrong diagram and be wiring the headphone port like one of the USB ports. Ugh.

I'm just glad I have as much of my own computer as I do. :)

Breaking Point

Things of mine to see:

I'm at a stage where I almost want to stop riding the bus to school. Stupid people.

I suppose if I'm going to tell this story, I should start a little ways back. Make that nearly four years. We were rather new in the neighborhood, and so were these people in a circle across the street. The kids came over to visit and we became friends. A few months later, we all hate each other, and this lasts up until sometime late last year.

Now they go to my school. They're twins, and their initials are B.B. and B.B. I only have problems with one of them.

Since she goes to my school, she rides the same bus as me, but a different stop that's really closer to my house than my stop is. Anyways, her and her sister (the one I can stand) usually sit around me.

Another thing now should be given: I'm normally a very passive person because I've trained myself to be that way. If I hadn't, things would be far worse for me, I'm sure.

Anyways, today on the way home from school, the annoying one sat next to me. I was listening to my iPod, and she was eating peanut butter cups. She asked for my cell phone, so she could browse the ringtone store, for what purpose, I don't know, but previously she had done this and burned 20 minutes of airtime. So I said no. She asks repeatedly for the device, and I consequently reply negatively.

After several go-arounds about this, the bus is on the freeway, booking it along at some 60 MPH. So obviously, I can't get up and move, not to mention the fact that there was nowhere to go and I was near the window, not the aisle. So what does she do but take a piece of her junk food and smash it under my left ear. After I clean it off my face I'm sitting there holding the mess and she does it again. I had to rub the crap off my face with my shirt. So it settles a little until we're in the neighborhood.

Once that happened, she started pseudo-punching me (putting her hand against my face and then pushing), and then she really did start to punch me in the face, lightly, mind you. She pulls on my ear and punches me some more. All the while I'm sitting there passively.

Up until she reached my breaking point. I grabbed her wrist and looked her straight in the eye and blatantly told her to stop. Unfortunately, this is just a little more than a block and a half from my stop.

If this shit keeps up, I'm just not going to ride the bus anymore. I'm going to get a ride from Katy and, when I can drive, drive myself.

I just think she's rather lucky my tolerance to her idiotic actions is as high as it is.

I can hear the bits crunching...

Things of mine to see:

It's maintenance time for \\Bob. The whole 9 yards in one night. An Ad-Aware, Spybot, virus scan set, Disk Cleanup, and last, but not least, the nasty Defragmentation. It's taking bloody ages to do these things. The Disk Cleanup wizard is bogging down the entire system because it's trying to compress gigabytes worth of data.

It still amazes me that somehow we've used 76% of a 200GB partiton. Where the hell did all that space go? My stuff (iTunes things included) comes in at a whopping 21GB, but then Program Files is some 50GB. (Expected. There's a hell of a lot of programs on here.) Where did the other 100GB go?

Well, hopefully I can get this mess sorted out soon enough that I can go to bed. Ugh. I really wish you could automate Disk Cleanup...

Excitement!

Things of mine to see:

Tomorrow, after I get to the bank, I get to order the parts to my computer... Or at least the first set of parts. There's going to be at least two separate orders, if not three, because I don't have a lot of money saved up yet. Just enough to get the first bit of stuff.

I played some today with making maps for Half-Life 2. I made a big pit and put some 50 enemies in it, and the player is on a ledge and has unlimited grenades but only 18 bullets for the best handgun in the game (.357 Magnum). If you manage to fall off the ledge, the enemies will kill you if the height doesn't.

Anyways, it's semi late and I need to get up at a reasonable hour tomorrow, so I've got to get to bed here....

"I Miss You..."

Things of mine to see:

"I miss you so bad... I won't forget you. Oh, it's so sad... I hope you can hear me. I remember it clearly. The day, you, slipped away..."

I have an Avril Lavigne song stuck in my head. A pre-"Girlfriend" song. "Slipped Away" from the album Under My Skin.

Anyways, I halfway appologize for yesterday's post. I'm not feeling much better today, but I am, a little. I'll make my one complaint about school right now.

English class. I managed to read the part I needed, for the most part, anyways. But then I get the test, and guess what it's about? SYMBOLISM! Needless to say, I failed. But how bad? I answered two of the six questions, which I just BS's, then I wrote a note to the teacher on the margin, and turned in a 2/3 blank test. What else could I do? If I tried to complete it, she would be waiting for years, probably.

Anyways, I thought some more, and I found the root of this issue is still the fact that I'm not at peace with who I am. Well, I'm at peace with who I am, but I'm not at peace with who everyone else thinks I am. Progressively, more and more people are learning that I am a wolf, but still, so many people I know are left out in the dark.

At long last, this wolfeh shall sleep. For the second night in a row, on time.

*howls*

EDIT: Sorry about how long it'd been since I had last posted on here. Life just wasn't allowing me the brainpower to post. Also, I'm sorry I don't comment often, but please do remember that I do read the posts you all make: the people on my friends list are important to me, even if I barely know them.

EDIT 2: Maybe sometime in the future I will try to make a video blog thing again. I deleted the one I had because I didn't like it then. I have to test the water some before I really dedicate time to it.

Things of mine to see:

School Sucks. That's all I have to say. School is really getting on me now. In English, we have essays and reading due tomorrow. 50 pages worth of reading. Then there's Algebra...

English is my least favorite class. Lets put it this way: I suck at the class. I can write, I can read, I have a rather extensive vocabulary, I can write proper English most of the time, but I can't for the life of me find symbolism, allusions, and that sort of thing. I can't write a character analysis to save my life. And reading.... I READ PAINFULLY SLOW and I get NOTHING out of it when I'm forced to do it, and there simply isn't enough time in my day to do this assignment. That's all there is to it. I wonder if those teachers realized how much they made me hate reading when I was young, and how much they are reinforcing it now.

Algebra isn't too bad. I get what we're doing, and it's pretty much all review. The problem is that there's too much work for how much other sh...stuff... that I have to do for other teachers. Systems of inequalities are not thirty second problems, not for me anyways.

(In case you haven't noticed, I'm complaining only about the classes that I have problems with.)

Java drives me crazy because we just started actually using input in the programs. The first few weeks we were just printing stuff out. But now we're kept overly busy, and I have nearly no time to make my programs sparkle with extras like I'd want to do.

I had homework in my networking class, and I can't do it because I have homework in English and Algebra still! GRR!!

Chemistry is getting easier, but I still think I'm in over my head. I'm just not smart enough for that class.

Psychology is TOO DAMN EASY. Pretty much all I have to do is show up and I get a 100%. For once I'm annoyed by how easy it is.

Spanish is STUPID right now. We've been watching a movie. I don't even know what movie, because I haven't been paying any attention to it. I've been writing. I need my release, and I can't get it here, so I have to do it at school.

That's seven, isn't it? That means I have a problem with every class I'm taking....

And another complaint about school: I'm afraid to think about taking Creative Writing. I'm afraid that what happened to me and reading will happen with writing, and then what will I have? I'm no musician, no artist, nothing. What would I be without writing?

Now my job. I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT. I want to quit the stupid $30 a month paper route and get a real job. Like Target. I won't quit the paper route until I have another job lined up, and I don't yet. But I can't wait until I do. I'm sick and tired of my boss. Make that my bosses. I've had this job so long that I've had three different bosses as each progressed up in their careers. Sam, Rick, and now Jennifer. Crazyness.

Well, I should go read, but I've been so fu...crazy tired that I can't even think about that stupid book. (Scarlet Letter - Nathaniel Hawthorne) I just want to sleep now so maybe I can focus tomorrow. I'm very tempted to use SparkNotes on the chapters I haven't read yet.

Lastly, before I go, I apologize. All of this ranting is because I hurt my foot and I've been pissed off the past few days. I don't get barely any time to myself anymore. I've started to go to the next level of insanity. It sucks.

Well, perhaps I'll post again sooner rather than later.

HOLY F!!!!

Things of mine to see:

I knew it was going to happen, but I didn't know it would happen this soon. iPod Touch is finally a reality. I WANT ONE NOW!!!!!!!!!!! NOW!!! Too bad I don't have the money to buy one. It's like iPhone without the phone part. Perfect for me. :)

Sorry I'm trust my technolust a bit too much. Just having said that tells you I watch a bit too much Hak.5. Sad, I know.

I love the videos in Adam's Post. Those ladies are hilarious because of their dances to silly music to illustrate the phrase. XD

Well, again it's late on a school night, so I've gotta go. Then I can dream that I had an iPod Touch.

Yeah, right, I know. Me? Dream? Naw. It doesn't happen anymore, regardless of what the scientists say.

Things of mine to see:

I have something to complain about, but I think I'll spare you all the boredom. That and I have to give a chance for it to be made right.

I spent a good portion of the day looking at the plans I had for my computer. I went through NewEgg and built a whole new system starting from scratch. I'm only missing a few items and the price is only somewhere around $500 without a monitor, keyboard, or mouse. (because I pretty much have these.) I'm fairly satisfied with this new build, though I think I need to take another look at the motherboard, possibly choose a different one with better support. And as it stands right now, if I buy the parts to build the machine before Windows XP goes off the market, I'm going to get Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Otherwise, I'm probably going to get Vista Home Premium because Ultimate is way overpriced.

Anyways, it's after 11 on a school night. I shall go to bed and "eagerly" await the next day of school.
